“ছিন্নপত্র” ফিল্মের স্ক্রিনিং উপলক্ষ্যে হাই কমিশনারের বক্তব্য

Honourable Guests, Distinguished Audience, Ladies and Gentlemen,

Namaskar and a Good Evening,

1. I am honoured to welcome you all to this special occasion organized by the High Commission of India, Dhaka. Tonight, we gather for the premier show of the film "Chhinnapotra: Padma Pare Rabindranath," a cinematic tribute to the life and legacy of the great poet and philosopher, Rabindranath Tagore.

2. At the outset I would like to complement Mr. Chanchal Khan. His dedication and artistry have brought to life the legacy of one of the greatest luminaries of our time, Rabindranath Tagore. Mr. Chanchal Khan has skillfully woven together the essence of Tagore's profound contributions to literature, music, and philosophy. He has artfully crafted a visual narrative that not only celebrates Tagore's monumental achievements but also provides a vivid window into the soul of the man himself.

3. Rabindranath Tagore, fondly referred to as Gurudev, was a visionary whose influence transcends borders and generations. His profound thoughts, poetic brilliance, and artistic endeavors continue to inspire and enrich humanity. His contributions to literature, music, and philosophy have left an indelible mark on the world.

4. The word “Chhinnapatra” can be translated into “Broken Letters” in English. It is essentially a collection of letters that Rabindranath Tagore wrote. It is a part of Tagore's extensive body of work, which includes poetry, songs, essays, short stories, and plays. “Chhinnapotra” provides valuable insights into the social and cultural milieu of Tagore's time, while also addressing universal themes that remain relevant to this day.

5. Through the film "Chhinnapotra: Padma Pare Rabindranath," we have the privilege to delve into the life of this extraordinary soul, exploring the depths of his creativity, his pursuit of truth, and his unyielding love for humanity. This film serves as a beacon, guiding us through the labyrinth of Tagore's experiences, his profound connection with nature, and his fervent belief in the unity of all cultures and religions.

6. The film has been made with the contribution of artists, singers and musicians from both India and Bangladesh. This joint effort reflects the shared cultural heritage of our two countries. It is also a reflection of the cultural bonding and the strong people-to-people exchanges which are the most important pillar of our partnership.

7. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the talented artists, filmmakers, musicians, and all those who have contributed to bringing this project to fruition. Your dedication and passion have made it possible for us to share this cultural treasure with the world.

8. In conclusion, I would like to express my deepest appreciation to each one of you for joining us tonight. May this evening be a source of inspiration, reminding us of the profound impact one individual can have on the world, and motivating us to carry forward the legacy of Rabindranath Tagore.
