Multi-Layered Connectivity in the Bay of Bengal: Positioning Bangladesh as a Regional Economic Hub

High Commissioner Pranay Verma was invited as a Guest of Honour to address a seminar on "Multi-Layered Connectivity in the Bay of Bengal: Positioning Bangladesh as a Regional Economic Hub" organized by the Centre for Policy Dialogue and the Embassy of Japan in Dhaka on 10 March 2024.

In his remarks, High Commissioner noted that the recent transformation in India-Bangladesh relations was most clearly manifest in the rapid growth of economic engagement and connectivity links between the two countries. The rapidly changing connectivity landscape between India and Bangladesh, which included transport connectivity as well as energy and digital connectivity, was also providing a boost to Bangladesh’s emergence as a regional economic hub, he added. High Commissioner also underlined Bangladesh’s importance in the development of India’s Northeastern states and described Japan as an important partner in subregional connectivity initiatives.

Hon’ble Minister of State for Commerce of Bangladesh H.E. Ahasanul Islam Titu and Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh H.E. Iwama Kiminori also addressed the event.
